Our Weekend Getaway

August 23, 2010

This past weekend, my husband and I happened to be off together, which just doesn’t happen. I always work at the hospital on the weekend that he is off so we have someone to keep the kids. But now that we’ve moved, my wonderful aunt Cheryl (who is like a grandmother to the kids) keeps them for us when we need her. God bless her! So Jade and I couldn’t decide on what we wanted to do. We thought about doing something for just the two of us, but then decided we would rather do something with the kids, since we don’t get to do anything big with them. (I know, I know. Jade and I don’t get a lot of couple time either–but that’ll come soon. :) ) Anyway, we decided to make a quick trip to the beach! We packed a few things, made a quick reservation for a hotel room, got in the car, and drove to Tybee Island. It took us 4 hours but the kids behaved wonderfully. When we got there, the kids reminded me how different they are from one another. Ashlyn laid eyes on the water for the first time and said, “Woooow! This is so exciting!” And Brent was ecstatic over the SAND. (huh?) So we spent Saturday afternoon, with Brent playing in the sand–he didn’t like the strong current of the waves and how it made him dizzy when the tide would move the waves in and out. And Ashlyn–well, we couldn’t keep her out of the water! She loooved how she could wade in, wait for a wave to build up, and jump into it and let it carry and roll her back to the shore. It was so fun, hearing her giggle and screech. I tell you, I love these kids.

They were flying their kites their aunt Cheryl bought for them. It was perfectly windy and made kite flying a breeze. It was even effortless for my little Brent–who’s just shy of 3 years old. :)

Then we went into Savannah for a bit so we could take a carriage ride for Ashlyn. While waiting, we went into Savannah Candy Kitchen and oh my gosh! Now we know what a kid looks like in a candystore! Ha!

It was SOOOOO hot. We made sure we had plenty of water. Poor Brent was drench in sweat. But he never complained.

On our way home, we stopped at Wormsloe Plantation so I could snap a few pictures of the kids on the oak avenue. This place is so pretty! Definitely going to order a couple of canvases of these. (Sorry Jade! lol)

Sweaty and red-faced, we were ready to head home. Plus Brent had a poopie diaper in the pic below, that we HAD to tend to! Ew!

Oh my goodness! Little Sophie was such a joy! She’s as dainty as can be and is sure to be the little princess of the house. She’s got 3 big brothers to keep her safe…and perhaps from ever having a boyfriend in the future! Ha! :) Really, you can see how much she is loved and cherished in this family. Congratulations!!!

I had so much fun spending the afternoon with Silas and his gorgeous family. You may recognize his mommy–I did her maternity a couple of months ago. You can see the blog post here. During her maternity session, I discovered how she loved horsesĀ and so I couldn’t resist suggesting the ‘baby on the saddle shot.’ I was so excited that she wanted it as much as I did! So fast forward to her newborn session for Silas and we attempt the shot–about 5 different times! He wasn’t consenting to any of it! We went about our session and got a ton of other shots but right before calling it quits, his mommy suggested we try one more time. And so we did. And we got it! But I’m saving the best for last so you have to scroll through all the other awesome sneak peeks I edited to see it! :)

Daddy and Silas. By the way, daddy is Ross Campbell, MD. Go see him if you need a Dermatologist!

Both boys are having a snack when daddy says “And this little piggy cried wee, wee, wee all the way home!”

And the shot we tried a bunch of times. Whew! And so glad we got it! ;) Thank you, Leigh & Ross for allowing me to capture your children during this unforgettable time.

This sweet little guy made our session such a pleasure! And he’s got a great big brother too! I could help but edit a big handful of these. I couldn’t narrow them down! Hope you like these!

Oh my goodness. If this woman had told me she was a model, I would have TOTALLY believed her! Her cute pregnant body is just so perfect! We started our session inside, and then made our way outside to the horse stable. If my daughter had seen her horses, the stable, the barn–she would have been in horse heaven. (Ashlyn’s crazy about horses, if you didn’t know already!) But to see Leigh out there with her horse, talking to him, made her even more beautiful. And now I can’t WAIT to meet this little guy! Stay tuned in the coming months to see his newborn session~:)

Little miss Lana isn’t a newborn. Oh no–she’s 3 months old but she let me pose her like she was brand new, for almost half of her session! I haven’t even gone through all the shots we got. I can say that we got more variety than any session I’ve ever done. All because miss Lana was so good for us. Thanks, Laura & Erik, for letting me document her time as a 3 month old sweet sack of sugar!

william. {3 months old}

November 3, 2009

He’s 3 months old and oh so sweet and chubby. I did his newborn session when he was 4 weeks old. He’s gotten so big! He made me smile cooing at his mommy during his session. I arrived when he was napping and it took him a little while to wake up even when we shed his sleeper and slid on a diaper cover. As he woke up, he was so sweet! Just slowly blinking, sucking his thumb, looking at me with my big black camera like I was some crazy person…But he did so good. We tried to get his big brother, but he wasn’t feeling well. We did take him outside to see how he would do, and he wanted none of it! I did manage to snap one or two good ones of him though. I posted one at the end of the sneak peek. Thank you for letting coming back. It was a joy to get to see him again.
